About the role
At Lyft, our purpose is to serve and connect. We aim to achieve this by cultivating a work environment where all team members belong and have the opportunity to thrive. Lyft Urban Solutions (LUS) creates bikeshare programs that riders love, cities need, and operators value. We design, build and support the bikes and stations technology behind bikeshare programs in cities around the world, including Bixi. Our Montreal team sits at the heart of that work, bringing together engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, operations, marketing and commercial teams under one roof. As the People Business Partner for LUS, you'll be the go-to people partner, and will also serve as the primary People lead for the Montreal site. You'll translate business priorities into practical people plans, help managers lead through complex people issues, and make sure our programs land properly in a Quebec context. You'll report into the Senior People Business Partner for our Global Growth team, and work closely with Employee Relations, Total Rewards, Talent Acquisition, People Operations and Legal. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys being close to the business. Success looks like a deep understanding of the team’s objectives, metrics, performance, and opportunities in order to craft People strategies that enable those objectives. You are equally comfortable coaching a new manager through a difficult conversation and helping a director think through how their team should be structured next year. Responsibilities: Partnering with managers and leaders across LUS on team health, performance, development and retention, providing thought partnership that's direct, practical and grounded in the business. Leading the People responsibilities for the Montreal site, including liaising with CNESST, the OQLF, and running the 1% Training Law program. Manage people rhythms autonomously and with excellence: bringing performance reviews, compensation cycles, talent reviews, workforce planning, organizational health reporting and engagement surveys to life for your client groups, and making sure managers are ready for each. Supporting employee relations matters with care and sound judgement, from first conversation through to resolution, partnering with Employee Relations and Legal where cases are complex. Supporting organizational changes, from small team restructures to larger shifts in how LUS is organized, including planning, manager preparation, project management and team member communication. Applying Quebec employment law and practice to Lyft's global programs, and flagging early where something needs to be adapted locally. Using data to spot patterns, such as attrition, engagement and hiring trends, and bringing them to leaders with a clear view on what to do next. Partnering with Finance to track headcount cost, holding leaders accountable and advising on headcount shifts to remain neutral to budget while optimizing for business outcomes. Being a visible, trusted presence on site, particularly for teams who don't sit at a desk all day. Experience: 5+ years of HR experience, including at least 2–3 years in an HR business partner or generalist role supporting managers directly. Working knowledge of Quebec employment law and experience applying it in practice. Professional fluency in French and English, written and spoken. Solid experience handling employee relations matters, including investigations, performance management and exits. Experience supporting both salaried, corporate employees and hourly, frontline and / or site-based populations. Experience in a company going through integration, restructuring or significant growth preferred. Comfort with HR systems (Workday or similar) and using data to support recommendations. Benefits: Extended health and dental coverage options, along with life insurance and disability benefits Mental health benefits Family building benefits Pet benefits Access to a Lyft funded Health Care Savings Account RRSP plan with company match to help save for your future In addition to provincial observed holidays, salaried team members are covered under Lyft's flexible paid time off policy.
